Note 10: Review of the Galaxy Note 10

Few smart devices now have the echo and impact of the Samsung Note series. Since its first Note N700 was released in 2011, the series has added new and unique features year after year to achieve success after year. Focusing on first-class productivity and continuing to incorporate more new and individual features into its S-Pen, Note 10 is a continuation of that legacy.

Introduction to the device

Since its inception, the Samsung Note series has distinguished itself from other smartphone manufacturers individually with its large screen, smart stylus, and premium design. This year’s phone is no exception but has more features to ensure that users remain loyal to the series.

For the first time, Samsung has offered two versions of the Note 10 as if it wanted to attract more users and expand the target segment, but it is not known whether it will succeed in its efforts, especially since the price of the smaller Note 10 falls within the category of leading devices.

The design

Although the design of the Note 10 Plus + Note 10 has changed a lot from the design of its predecessor Note 9, I lift the hat for the design team because of their ability to maintain the design footprint of the Note series.

The first and most obvious change is the large screen that extends over the entire front end of the phone thanks to the reduction of the front edges to the point where they seem barely present. The small bottom bezel helps carry the phone without risking accidental touching the screen, while the top edge can hardly accommodate the earpiece and some important sensors.

It is very clear that the size of the new Note 10 has changed. The screen-to-width ratio is 19: 9 from 18.5: 9 in the Note 9, the same as we saw in the S10 this year. Despite the slight increase in the size of the phone compared to its predecessor, it is thinner and lighter than the weight of 196 grams.

Samsung continued to design the hole screen, but chose to put the hole this time in the center of the screen, which earned the phone a symmetrical shape without hindering the overall user experience, and will soon get used to it and forget its existence completely.

The company moved all the buttons to the left side of the phone and dispensed with its voice assistant button Bixby (apparently convinced it was useless). It also dispensed with the headphone port, which we have long sang in the presence of Samsung phones and praised it for its preservation, but fortunately did not go that sacrifice dam, you will get an additional 100 mA of battery.

The design of the smaller version of the phone is similar to the larger, and the difference lies only in dimensions and weight.

The screen

Samsung is one of the pioneers in the world of smartphone screens – if not the first – so don’t expect the Note 10 to be less than spectacular.

The Note 10 Plus has the largest screen in the history of the Note series measuring 6.8 inches, but this is not only what makes the experience of using it exceptional, but being QHD and Dynamic AMOLED, which means a greater focus on HDR content, and to be more accurate means the ability to change colors While viewing HDR content, thus delivering an exceptional experience.

The Note 10’s 6.3-inch screen is no less impressive than its older brother, the Note 10 Plus, despite its smaller size. Although its resolution is only FHD, it is still very clear and its colors are vibrant and vibrant.

The performance

The global version of both Note 10 comes with an Exynos 9825 processor based on a 7nm manufacturing architecture compared to its 8nm predecessor, which offers a slight increase in GPU performance. The Chinese and US version will come with a Snapdragon 855 processor.

Strangely, Samsung doesn’t use the Qualcomm’s improved SD 855 + processor, but the Note 10 Plus has all the specs you can even ask for or dream of. The SD 855 processor is powerful enough to complete all your daily tasks smoothly, quickly and without any lag.

You won’t have any problems with reusing open programs or playing huge games with 12GB of RAM. Abundant 512GB of storage ensures you have infinite storage for big games and apps, and faster playback speed thanks to the new generation UFS. 3, and do not forget the phone support Note 10 Plus for external memory card can reach up to 1 TB.

The S-Pen does not occupy much of the device without any benefit. It is now one of the most important features that the Note series is unique to other smart devices and has become a standalone electronic piece in its own right.

The essence of the S-Pen remained unchanged, so the sensation of removing the pen and moving the pen over the screen and its button all remained the same as more technologies were added to it.

Samsung gave its enhanced pen the ability to sense 6-axis by adding a gyroscope and acceleration sensor, which improved its remote control and added some new control gestures that the company called Air Actions.

When you try this technique for the first time, you will feel at first glance a magician in one of the Harry Potter films. Moving the pen left and right moves you between different shooting modes while moving it up and down moves you between the front and rear camera.

You can also control the zoom in the camera by moving the pen in a circular motion with or counterclockwise. And don’t forget to use it to take good group shots up to several meters away.

Samsung used the same triple camera system as the S10 + with a slight adjustment to the telephoto camera.

The 12-megapixel main camera is optically mounted with an f / 1.5 aperture, the 12-megapixel telephoto camera is also optically mounted with an f / 2.1 aperture, and the 16-megapixel wide-angle camera has an f / 2.2 aperture. The new addition is a ToF depth sensor camera.

This time, Samsung focused on video shooting and added some new tricks that will take the video shooting experience to a new level.

You can use the AR Doodle feature to scribble some shapes on the video and have them track the movement of the face drawn around it. You can also use the phone’s multiple microphones to take advantage of the new and unique Zoom-in feature that allows you to focus on sound coming from a specific area of the video and ignore the rest of the sounds.

You can now take advantage of the depth-sensing camera to directly add a bokeh effect to your video while recording it (isolating and blurring the object from the background), and you can also add some effects to the video directly during recording. The company also improved it’s Super Steady shooting mode to be more stable than ever.

Samsung’s user interface has not changed. It offers a continuity of experience that ensures a smooth transition between different leading devices without any experience. It remained, however, rich in features, some of which could be obvious while others were hidden under advanced settings.

In addition to the remote control of the phone through the gestures mentioned earlier in the paragraph S-Pen, improved handwriting recognition significantly improved to be able to even recognize the very bad font, and maintain the color used in writing, in addition to allowing the ability to save notes as a Word file or PDF or image directly.

The S-Pen also offers more options when it comes to editing text or scribbling on images with AR Doodle that looks more fun and fun than productivity.

Note 10 gives you the ability to professionally edit your video with a dedicated video editing software. And Samsung collaborated with Adobe to create a customized version of Adobe Rush for Note 10.

The battery

The Note 10 battery has been upgraded to 4300 mAh compared to its predecessor Note 9 with 4000 mAh.The company also managed to use a battery with a capacity of 3500 mA in the smaller version of Note 10, which is not bad considering the space occupied by the S pen -Pen into consideration.

The new Note 10 Plus charger with a capacity of 45 watts is a good upgrade after Samsung stuck to a 15-watt charger for a long time, and the 25-watt charger for the Note 10 is in line with most of the fast chargers dedicated to current flagship phones. However, Samsung did not know what it was.

The Note 10 supports wireless charging with a capacity of 12 watts. The larger version supports a capacity of 15 watts, and the wireless charging capacity of the region is allocated to the phone, and can reach 20 watts in some countries, the two phones also support reverse wireless charging technology.

Although Samsung has launched two versions of its new flagship phone to appear to offer more options for users and enable those who are unable to manage the cost of leading phones to acquire a phone series Note, but in fact, with the rest of the companies – raise the price of leading phones and set new limits It seems that the new borders will cost a lot.

The Note 10 will be available for $ 950, while the larger Note 10 Plus will start at $ 1,050.
